At your average dinner table a family is torn by a government who faxes them what to believe.
Director’s Notes
his was my sixth student film, shot on color 16mm film. It was my first film I ever co-directed on and the first time directing a script I did not write. Kevin Gadd came to me with this idea and ask if we could combine our footage to create a more elaborate short and co-direct it with him. Since I didn't have an idea for my footage and I thought it would be a great learning experience and challenge, I agreed to do it.
Co-directing was a really interesting dynamic. Sometimes you felt like you were stepping on each other's toes. But as the night went on, we found the moments in the film that each of us were better suited for and learned to step back and let the other take over when needed. One moment that I added that wasn't in the original script was having the son savagely cut up the meatloaf that his mother was so patiently waiting to serve. This film taught me a great deal and I was just lucky to be a part of it.
