Matt Capurro plays your “typical guy”, Lea Bair plays your “typical girl” in a film that comically explores the stereotypical male/female roles of society.
Director’s Notes
This was my fourth student film, shot on black and white 16mm film. It began life as one of the pitches for my third student film. A guideline for the assignment was to have the film end with an ironic twist ending. So the original draft of this idea was dialogue based and had an ironic twist ending that had the guy give back some of the torture the girl put him through. It was shelved for two semesters after my instructor at the time expressed that he was not a fan of the idea and felt the twist ending was too cruel.
I finally revisited the idea for my Cinematography 1 class in 2002. The only guideline was that it had to be a silent film. So I reworked the script by removing the dialogue and cut the ironic twist ending that was imposed by the previous class. I chose to make a modern day silent comedy with a few sparingly used dialogue title cards. The film went on to become one of my favorite early student films and was nominated by my instructor to be included in the school's film festival.
